Christmas is coming

                                       The Grinch supervised the decorating.

What a wonderful day.  Maria was home and feeling much better so she and her dad took down the Christmas decorations from the loft.  Soon the outside of the house looked so lovely and cheerful.  The white picket fence was garlanded and lit with twinkling lights and icicles (at least the kind we have here in California) where hanging from the roof.

I began on the inside and set out our traditional Grinch holding Max, and Grumpy elf, Gil's favorite.  Wonder why?  When the children came in from school they were excited to see that the season had begun.  After finishing homework they helped decorate the trees.  We have a big tree in the den and the children have their own table top tree in the living room.  They did a wonderful job of decorating both of them.  Each ornament had to be discussed and remembered.  We have a lot of handmade things on the trees, even things that Maria made when she was younger than they are now.  It is a hodge-podge of memories.

Soon the house will have the smells of Christmas cookies, fudge, and pine.  Tomorrow I will finish up on the inside of the house and start baking. Wonder what I should begin with?
